Multi-functional Centre of Pregassona

Lugano, Switzerland

The multi-functional “zero energy impact” building has the largest BIPV (Building Integrated Photovoltaic) facade in Ticino and hosts:

  • a medical residence for elderly people with 114 beds;
  • a day-care centre for senile dementia patients;
  • the new headquarters of the Municipal Social Welfare Service (SAS);
  • a kindergarten.

Wohnüberbauung Männedorf

Männedorf, Switzerland

This project of the Umwelt Arena Schweiz foundation in collaboration with René Schmid Architekten AG was awarded with the Watt D’Or 2021 in the Buildings and Space category by the Swiss Federal Office of Energy for the ecological and economic impact of the project. The future oriented apartment buildings combine a variety of innovative solutions to achieve a CO2 neutral operations goal.

Solar Living Kloten

This project by René Schmid Architekten AG has been built in the centre of Kloten, Switzerland. It includes 22 modern apartments and an underground car park that are geared towards a future-oriented way of life.
“Solar Living” is the guiding principle of this residential complex and it stands for progressive and conscious living in harmony with nature.

The solar system installed on the “winter and sports world” leisure facility in Wallissellen will be one of the largest in the region and among the top 15 across the canton. The photovoltaic panels installed on the facades of the building are sophisticated and adaptable in terms of colour, size and shape.

The new 8-storey Kloten Milano building has 65 apartments and 650 m2 of commercial space. In this project, the innovative BIPV modules were carefully studied to seamlessly integrate with traditional elements such as ceramic, giving the facade a perception of greater movement.

This office building is being designed to meet high standards for energy efficiency for WWZ Zug, a Swiss supplier of energy, telecommunications and water. The new WWZ Zug building is an office building with an integrated computer centre. The building consists of 3 upper floors for office use and 3 basement floors.
